Motor Neuron Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, Unspecified Afflictions that affect the Central Nervous System.

These are, of course, afflictions that need lots of medical input, but for purposes of prevention and for avoiding making the situation worse, and even improving it, we would suggest avoiding the following:

Organophosphate pesticides (OPs). These will obstruct the uptake of Manganese from the gut, due to blocking the function of the choline- containing enzymes, which are required for this process. Manganese carries oxygen to the mitochondria of the brain cells. Without the oxygen the brain cells cannot function adequately. To mitigate, try and remove all contact with pesticide contamination. Use only organic food, avoid sprays, treated furnishings, pet treatments for fleas. Shut windows and doors if local farmers are using sheep dip or spraying fields.

If you can identify a particular incident or product that resulted in your illness, it may be worth considering suing as this may help to draw attention to the problem and thus prevent many other people suffering a similar fate. It may also be possible to get a homeopathic remedy for the particular chemical.

I would also contact PEX (Pesticide Exposure Group) for their further advice www.gn.apc.org/pesticidestrust and to give them your useful case history.

To help further, Nicotinamide is the nutrient that will clear OPs through the liver. Vitamin C and garlic will also help them to leave the body. It is also a good idea to give Manganese, together with Lecithin granules which contain choline which will help the absorption.

There are therapies available which give oxygen in a particular form, this may be worth investigating but I have no experience of this.

As with every other health condition a good organic diet and avoiding your allergens, if you have them, will be a good basic health plan (See Section on Nutrition).

As with every other condition, avoid substances which are said to be neurotoxins and cause dizziness etc. The following 15 food additives are listed in “Find Out” as causing this. E numbers 173, 210, 284, 290, 421, 554, 556, 559, 621, 624, 625, 951, 967 & E1520. A further 43 are said to cause insomnia which could lead to nervous system fatigue, if not worse.

Avoiding alcohol, smoking and street drugs more or less goes without saying. If you are on any medical drugs check them on the internet for side-effects.

I would also get our little booklet “Watch It” to tell you what is in cosmetics etc. You will be amazed how many have “Central Nervous System Depressants” and similar in them.

In all prolonged illness it is always worth seeing a homeopath, and checking out if anything can be achieved with the constitutional remedies. It has the merit of being harmless at the very least and is usually extremely helpful.

It is worth investigating food allergies, and/or intestinal parasites. Either of these will interfere with nutritional excellence, by impeding absorption.

The electromagnetic side of things definitely needs looking into. It is likely that there is some electro-smog around, and this tends to weaken the body’s resistance to other disruptive influences. It would be a good idea to call in Roy Riggs, www.royriggs.co.uk at an early stage to get the house and place of work checked out (See Section on Electromagnetic Pollution). There are lots of steps that can be taken to lessen the impact that do not cost money – as well as some that do!

Every little helps.
